SPECIFICATIONS

Design
Johndec SafetyfIow Series fans are designed to ensure smooth flow characteristics from fully open to fully closed conditions. Special attention has been given during design and development to ensure low noise level characteristics. Johndec Safetyflow Series fans are renowned for their strong and solid construction, practically any mixture of aggressive gases and vapours can be transported with suitably designed Johndec Safetyflow fans without corrosion problems. Materials of construction, depending on what hazardous acids are being used within the fume system will be specially determined. Johndec Safetyflow Series fans can be manufactured in:

1. Polyvinyl chloride sheet (PVC)
2. Polypropylene sheet.
3. Polyvinyldene fluoride sheet (PVDF).
4. Fibre Reinforced plastic (FRP).

Additional features are available through corresponding material modifications of design measures:

Fan Casing
Are of sturdy construction fully hand welded using a triple seam weld rod. The fan casings are reinforced with welded angles and stiffeners, the result is a truly robust and high quality product capable of withstanding all normal forces of operation for many years. The inlet is flanged with a bell mouth inlet cone. Standard rectangular outlet is flanged and a separate rectangular to round transition is available. Fan casings can be fabricated in all the above materials.

Impeller
The impeller is of all polypropylene or PVC welded construction and is designed and finished for efficient and quiet operation. Drive from shaft to impeller is through a mild steel boss, this boss is bolted to the impeller back plate. All metal (including shaft) which may be exposed to corrosive fumes are completely covered with polypropylene or PVC. All impellers are statically and dynamically balanced.

Shafts
Are accurately machined mild steel, liberal in size to afford rigid support-for-the-overhung fan impeller.

Shaft Seal
The polypropylene or PVC covered impeller centre is extended and projects outside the fan casing and is fitted with an efficient high quality plastic seal which is resistant to chemical corrosion, wear and tear.

Direct Drive
Alternative arrangements are available, direct drive by electric motor with impeller mounted on motor shaft. This arrangement is most economical where motor speeds can be matched to fan duty and any type of foot mounted can be utilised.

Belt Drive
In this case the fan shaft is carried in high quality ball-bearings mounted in a duplex housing providing certainty of bearings alignment a full protection for the fan bearings. The belt drive can then be from a motor mounted either on the frame or separately mounted.

Motor or Bearing Base
Is constructed from mild steel and treated with high quality anti-corrosive paint. Cadmium plated nuts and bolts are used externally. The base frame is then mounted on four anti-vibration springs

Motors
Fans may be fitted with almost any type of foot mounted motor, but unless otherwise specified Totally Enclosed and Totally Enclosed Fan Cooled motors of recognised Australian or overseas manufacture would be used.

MODELS

JFC Series Fans
Designed principally to handle extraction of chemical fumes from fume cupboards, fume hoods, atomic absorption unit and tanks. They are a direct driven type fan fitted with a backward curved or forward curved type impeller.

Capability: Volume (Litres per second) 50L/S to 1200L/S

JBC Series Fans
Designed principally to handle extraction of chemical fume from fume cupboards, fume hoods, acid tanks and installations employing fume scrubbers. They are indirectly driven via shaft belts, pulley and bearings: Fitted with a backward curved type impeller

Capability: Volume (Litres per second) 300L/S to 10,000L/S
